Yikes! I got one of these 3 weeks ago.
I had to reinstall my OS from scratch.
Thanks Microsoft!
They really do have very informative
troubleshooting tips.
I could've fixed it myself
I even looked up what the hex digits
mean..
But then I came up with an idea
to just surf around and find
people who had experienced
the same problem.
Some guy posted something like
this:
"I worked! I fixed it using these
steps.
1. Do this
2. Do that
3. And do this
"
And I, like an idiot,
followed the first few step
without glancing at the second
paragraph in his post.
His second paragraph was
something like
"I didnt follow step 2.
I had alternative"
What?!
Good thing there's
this recovery tool..
A freeware tool called
"PC Inspector File Recovery".
I used PCI4. And it really
can detect the lost data in ur harddrive.
Restorer 2000 as well as
the previous versions of PCI
are not as effective as PCI4.
I managed to recover most
of the files that I needed.
I wanted none of the complexity
of doing a manual fix of recreating
the boot file. Those hex digits
tend to confuse me.
Plus, I dont know which
boot writer to use.
But I do know somebody
who was able to repair
his partitions after doing
it manually...
Ah! Now, at least,
my laptop has plenty
of diskspace.
